I have a child that we did the OAT and the Arabinose and Oxalic markers came back normal, but the child has a chronic history of pelvic pain and painful urination.

      Current dx is Interstitial Cystitis.

However, child has a history of encephalopathy in which he was in a coma for a few days. Mom reports being able to see crystals in his urine while he was in a coma and knowing that he was urinating by the expressions on his face, even while in the coma.

Is it possible for the OAT not to show the Oxalic marker if the yeast markers are normal?

Should we pursue a 24 hour Urine Oxalate sample?

      Thanks,

      Liz

        Liz,
Doing a 24 hour urine oxalate collection would be worthwhile in this case.
