      Dr Woeller, if a child has a pos M2 pk marker but has also been treated with imunovir could the marker be positive because of this therapy? The mom is worried her child has cancer.

        Gabrielle,
        I don’t know the answer to this. I have never encountered this marker before. I would make sure the mother follows-up with the doctor who ordered this test. However, one thing to keep in mind is there are other non-malignant conditions that can cause this marker to be high – http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/585221_3.
