I have heard some suggest that Candida is often a protective mechanism against heavy metals. Do you worry that killing Candida might release more metals into circulation and is heavy metal binding something that has to be considered with Candida or other anti-fungal therapies?

    Thanks,

      Scott,
I haven’t been concerned about this, and after I present my lecture on Monday you will see the complex pathogenicity of candida is much worse than people realize. I know Candida uses iron, zinc, and other minerals to improve its metabolism, but I haven’t come across anything that it sequesters heavy metals, although oxalates can.
