A potential client came to me and said her pediatrician suggested to do a blood test for iron and thyroid levels because she believes that low levels of iron has severe impact on kids’ cognitive functions and development.
This child is 7 years old and was just recently diagnosed.
I don’t know much about the child at this point.

What is your view on it? How could I suggest that the oat is more beneficial?

        Rita,
Low thyroid can certainly be a problem and well established. The same is true of iron deficiency. With regards to the OAT you need to emphasize that the information obtain evaluates for various metabolic imbalances that can be just as important as blood testing for iron and thyroid. The blood iron and thyroid can certainly be done, but the OAT is absolutely essential to look at a broader category of things.

        Sincerely,
        Dr. Woeller
