Dr. Hartman,
I don’t rely on blood testing anymore for H. pylori, unless the lab can do IgG, IgM, and IgA. Immunosciences, Inc. out of California use to have this panel which was subcontracted to BioHeatlh. We would find a number of people who would have IgM and IgG elevated, and some just IgM.
These days, particularly for kids, I use the stool antigen from BioHealth Laboratory. They provide a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Screen (#401-H) which is a very good parasite and H. pylori stool test. However, even with this test I still make sure to correlate it to the patients symptoms, particularly if you are considering antibiotic therapy.
Sincerely,
Dr. Woeller
