What recommendations do you have for general anesthetics in autistic individuals.
I have heard they should avoid Nitrous Oxide? Due to using up methyl groups.
I’m asking for a Severely autistic adult who is having dental procedures. Thanks

        Alison,
Nitrous oxide is the main one I would personally avoid. It definitely affects methylation. I once did NO for a replacement filling a few years back and could feel the affects of a few days afterwards. Other sedatives and anesthetics are generally fine from what I have seen as they are short-acting. I am not an expert in the pharmacology of all of these compounds, but avoiding NO is possible is advisable.
