I had a family ask me today about IV glutathione. I have no idea I said but.. Useful? Side effects? When indicated and for what length of time? Doses?

I.V. glutathione can be very useful. Length of time is variable, but usually a few months done at least once weekly or biweekly.Glutathione (general dosing suggestions):
-300mg (less than 50lbs)
-600mg (50 to 69lbs)
-900mg (greater than 70lbs)Infuse with approximately 25 to 50cc of normal saline (NS) or sterile water. Usually done as a push with the infusion period being 3 to 5 minutes.
