Dr. Woeller,
Casey having BM most every day but it still seemed not enough. I had the x-ray done and sure enough shows lots of BM so constipation issues.
Today is the third day on antibiotic and Dr. said we would discuss the x-ray and see next Thursday, assuming he is waiting to see if antibiotic causes loose stools and clears it out. Could this clear it? Or should I proceed with bowel flush protocol?
He is talking about a prescription Miralax. Is there a difference between the prescription or over the counter.
Also, you say Bowel flush can be repeated. With someone who has had issues for years, would it be best repeated once a month for so many months?Thank you,

Best to repeat once monthly. I would wait for your doctors guidance since she is on an antibiotic. The Miralax is a good way to do and is likely looking to do a higher dose than what is generally recommended over-the-counter.

I noticed you said if child is allergic to corn then avoid Miralax.
Is there anything else that can be used or compounded other then Miralax?I do not think Fleet enema option will work, I am afraid she would tense up and cause more damage.
Is there any reaction to watch for using the Dulcolax suppository?
I am going today to see the abdominal x-ray, can I attach a picture here to see your thoughts on it?
Thank you,

Contact a local compounding pharmacy in your area and inquire with them about a corn-free laxative powder similar to Miralax. They may have some other options.Ducolax – nothing specific needs to be watched for other than some people will force them out by contracting their lower pelvis area.
X-ray – yes, you can post the image here. Also, if you can get the radiologist report that is even more helpful.
Sincerely,

I did not get copy of x-ray but did attach the Radiologist report. She has hip and bone issues as well any ideas as to whom I might take her to for that.
Any help in a direction to go with this would be great.
The compound pharmacy I use here in Lincoln wanted me to ask about miralax as she said it is not derived from corn so didn’t understand the corn issue.
Thank you,

Perhaps I am mistaken about Miralax and corn. I thought it had corn starch in it. Perhaps it did in the past. I am looking now and cannot find any reference to it. It should be fine. The X-ray definitely confirms some constipation.
Curious about her hip? Did you know about this?

I did not know about her hip, So I am guessing at this one but should set her up with a hip specialist. I am going to try my best to find someone to help her with this.
any ideas?
Thank youAugust 6, 2015 at 4:07 am #503Definitely see an orthopedist. It may be causing her pain?
