Part of breaking away from the employee/insurance model is now being responsible for my family’s health insurance! Any thoughts on where to start looking/best options for functional medicine minded families (more supplements and holistic care that may not be covered anyway)?
And what about malpractice insurance? Certain carriers that understand functional medicine and the decreased risk of litigation (I’m assuming) because of the stronger provider-pt relationships?
    Thanks!!!

      Jessica,
Our family just signed up for Liberty Healthshare – http://www.libertyhealthshare.org. It’s an alternative way of covering certain medical expenses without huge premiums and deductibles.

The malpractice concern I don’t have any real information on.

        Jessica,
Another option is some insurance plans allow for medical savings accounts. This is what we were using to help offset costs for alternative care. But, that option was taken away this year and premiums went up another $400 a month with less coverage. That is why we looked into the health share option.

Look into the PMA. If my brain fog doesn’t betray me, PMA stands for Pastoral Medical Association. They have legal assistance and health sharing insurance. Cheers!
