What do you think about over methylation? I am reading a book that is suggesting Overmethylation produces symptoms of excessive dopamine activity, anxiety, and schizophrenia (William Walsh). I have also read a lot about Overmethylation not being something that can occur commonly and that the idea of excessive dopamine connected to schizophrenia is wrong.

      Todd,
My apologies. Not sure how I missed your post from a few weeks back.

I think overmethylation does occur. It is either overmethylation or increased enzyme and receptor sensitivity to methylation.

Clostridia toxin HPHPA, which is known to inhibit dopamine-beta hydroxylase, has been linked to some cases of schizophrenia. Blocking this enzyme increases dopamine. Whether that alone is the whole story is debatable, but it certainly seems to exacerbate in some situations.

      Sincerely,
      Dr. Woeller
