GSE and contaminents

My wife who is a Pediatric OT turned herbalist and aromatherapist has significant concerns about grapefruit seed extract. Some of the people she’s trained with state that the antimicrobial effects are from contamination (ie-triclosan) and its so universal and the assumption is all GSE suppliments contain it. Can you speak to this?

Dr. Hartman,
This is the first I have heard of this. I have used primarily Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract so that would have to be researched. However, in my years of using it I have seen it well tolerated. Periodically, a child will get an upset stomach from it, but overall it seems to work well from an antimicrobial standpoint.
