    Hi Dr Woeller,
I wondered if it’s necessary to test cholesterol (since it’s a blood draw) or would it be safe to ensure the child has enough sources of cholesterol in his/her diet? (Liver, seafood, eggs, etc). Also, would MCT oil or coconut oil be considered sources of cholesterol? Thank you

      Janneme,
The only way to know for sure what the level is is to test. I understand the blood draw can be difficult. Therefore, working on diet is the next best option (and a good option either way – testing or no testing). Coconut products don’t have cholesterol, but they can affect blood fats and cholesterol because of their saturated fatty acid configuration.

      Sincerely,
      Dr. Woeller
