Christina,
I will be getting into methylation later in the course. Many people run the 23 and Me for general purposes. I don’t personally get lost in all of the information that these tests provide. The amount of genetic information is huge and sometimes conflicting. The MTHFR genetics is helpful, but too many people become heavily focused on the genetics and lose sight of the bigger picture with regards to toxicity, bowel function, etc.
Recently I attended a conference on Methylation that was hosted by Doctor’s Data, and that was almost the exact same response the rep gave when I asked him about the DNA test.
Michael,
I had a conversation with Ben Lynch, ND about a month ago and we discussed this same topic. In fact, his book ‘Dirty Genes’ is titled because he sees too many people focused on the genetics and not spending enough time just improving their overall health, e.g. diet, nutrition, exercise, gut health, toxins.
